Cultural Policy Statement and the Cultural Commission
     
Scottish Executive's Cultural Policy Statement

An independent commission is currently reviewing all existing cultural provision in Scotland.

The commisioners over the coming year (from 1 June 2004),will be
making recommendations on the development of arts and culture to the Executive to boost access and excellence

The commission is chaired by James Boyle seeks to define cultural rights from the user’s perspective, with particular attention to excellence, access, innovation, creativity and achievement. The scope of the Commission’s work will include the arts, creative industries, museums & heritage, galleries, libraries, archives, architecture and relationship to events, festivals.
