Celtic Connections

In January Glasgow plays host to Celtic Connections, a celebration of Celtic music from Scotland and beyond. The festival focuses on Scottish music, but also showcases performers from countries such as Canada, USA, France and Spain.

Edinburgh’s festivals
Perhaps the best known events in Scotland are the Edinburgh International Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, which together showcase music, theatre and dance from both professional and amateur performers. An exciting programme of events takes place this year (2004) in Edinburgh and Glasgow to celebrate Scotland’s links with Italy’s Tuscany and Florence. Both festivals take place in August and form part of a range of festivals held in the city each year:

Information about all of these festivals can be found on the Edinburgh Festivals website.

The Royal Highland Show
The Royal Highland Show is a large agricultural show that attracts over 140,000 visitors over four days in June. Highlights of the show include displays of over 5,000 animals, food and drink exhibitions, a flower show and craft goods.

T in the Park
T in the Park is Scotland’s premier rock music festival. Each year over 50 thousand fans brave the unpredictable Scottish summer to take in a host of top rock artists in an open air concert held in Balado, by Kinross in July.
