Home
The home page of Scotland's Culture includes the following areas:

In the top left hand corner of the page, there is a link to a text version of Scotland's Culture, this version of the site contains no graphics or images and is accessible to screen readers and other adaptive technologies. To link back from the text version of the page click on the graphic version link in the top left hand corner.

Below the banner, the navigation bar offers links to the main areas of the service. The navigation bar is available from every page of Scotland's Culture. Within the Search graphic area of the service, the navigational links are replaced by tabs.

The navigational links are:
Home graphic - this link will bring you back to the main page of the service.

Browse graphic - this link will take you to a resource area of the service.

Search graphic- this link will take you to the full searching facilities available within the service.

About the portal graphic- this link will take you to information about the service such as background and aims, frequently asked questions and contact details.

Help graphic - each page within the service has its own help page, with help relevant to page of the service that you are in. All help pages are listed within the sitemap page.

The simple search facility has a search box to the right hand side. Enter a word or search term and click on Go button graphic, this will take you to a number of electronic resources found within the Scotland's Culture service.

To the right hand side of the screen are the service's spotlights, these may be direct links to external resources of cultural significance or highlighting new content within the service's links to electronic resources. All spotlight resources will open in a new window.

The bottom of the page has information such as a link to the partners involved in Scotland's Culture, legal requirements of the service, disclaimer and copyright, and a contact email for reaching the service team.

Scotland's Culture help pages are displayed in a new browser window. You may wish to keep the new window open for further reference, or close it to reduce clutter. You can always display this guide again from the Sitemap page, along with all other help pages.

Some users may find that parts of Scotland’s Culture are inaccessible from within an institution that has firewall protection. This may be because parts of Scotland’s Culture use an untypical port number (8000). To rectify this you should contact your IT department who will be able address the problem.
