Scotland's Culture

Interpreting your search results

Scotland's Culture returns a list of resources that match the search criteria you entered. For each resource, the service displays title, publisher and author information. The summary results let you know how many resources were found and also the search term you used.

The summary page shows results as follows:

1. (Edinburgh Festival) Fringe [electronic resource].
by Edinburgh Fringe (Festival)

If you want to look at the item information for the resource or go to the resource click on the title of the resource in blue.

Note: If your search returns only a single item, the Portal displays detailed information about the item rather than first displaying the item in a summary list.

After your search results are returned, you can:

  • Sort your search results by title, author or publication date.
  • View information for a specific item.
  • Email your search results.
  • Add an item to My List.

Scotland's Culture help pages are displayed in a new browser window. You may wish to keep the new window open for further reference, or close it to reduce clutter. You can always display this guide again from the
Sitemap page, along with all other help pages.

Some users may find that parts of Scotland’s Culture are inaccessible from within an institution that has firewall protection. This may be because parts of Scotland’s Culture use an untypical port number (8000). To rectify this you should contact your IT department who will be able address the problem.
